Mixing Things Up

A fairly good collection of remixes.

The hottest trend of the '90s has undoubtedly been remixing old songs. Somehow, adding new beats and a different rhythm does wonders for the songs. Sometimes, though, the experiment can go horribly wrong. Thankfully, this album is not one of those disasters.

The songs that have been reworked are mostly disco numbers from the '80s and they sound quite nice. Of all of these, Modern Talking's "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", Boney M's "Ma Baker" and Los Del Rio's evergreen "Macarena" are the best. However, there are a number of other songs which are good in their own right.

All the tracks sound quite good and should be enough for at least one complete listen. There is very little repetition and most songs manage to make an impact on their own. The album could be used either as a party album or for dancing on your own, though it could hardly pass off for quiet evening listening.
